The launch of the MIPIM 2025 Programme last night at Versa Studios in Manchester set the stage for Greater Manchester’s ambitious plans to showcase its global investment opportunities at the renowned real estate event in Cannes next March.
Organised by the Manchester Invest Partnership and led by Marketing Manchester, the event highlighted the city-region’s robust collaboration between public and private sectors as a blueprint for sustainable urban development.
The launch brought together influential stakeholders, including Cllr Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, and Caroline Simpson, Chief Executive of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Both emphasised Manchester’s opportunity to demonstrate leadership in urban innovation and resilience. Cllr Craig framed the region as “an exemplar” for sustainable growth, urging attendees to unite as “Team GM” to leverage the momentum leading to MIPIM. Simpson underscored the strength of the region's public-private partnerships, calling it a defining feature that positions Manchester ahead of its competitors on the global stage.
MIDAS focuses on drawing international attention to Manchester's thriving industries, including advanced manufacturing, creative and digital technology, financial professional business services, and life sciences, while also emphasising the city’s commitment to net-zero targets and a greener economy. This aligns with the event’s overarching goal of not only attracting investment but also addressing pressing global challenges like climate change and encouraging more diversity in the real estate industry.
Manchester’s presence at MIPIM 2025 represents more than a marketing effort; it’s a chance for the region to further its reputation as a hub of economic vitality. Victoria Braddock, Managing Director of Marketing Manchester, reflected on the city’s proven ability to harness collective ambition, noting that the public and private sectors work together to demonstrate a cohesive vision. This vision is supported by a calendar of year-round place-promotion events designed to build upon Manchester’s international successes.
The focus areas for Manchester at MIPIM 2025 will include key developments like the ongoing regeneration projects in Wythenshawe and Salford Crescent, efforts to boost residential investments, and innovations in sectors such as advanced materials and digital health. These initiatives highlight Manchester's balance between nurturing its local communities and driving forward global competitiveness. There will also be a UK stage with opportunities to further strengthen and highlights Manchester’s offer.
The event’s location at the iconic Versa Studios (formerly Granada Studios) was fitting, as it showcased the city’s cultural and infrastructural growth alongside its economic strategies. Attendees left with a fresh sense of Manchester's readiness to seize this moment of opportunity, fuelled by its legacy of innovation and a collaborative spirit that bridges industries and geographies.
For MIDAS and its partners, MIPIM 2025 is not just about creating investment opportunities; it’s about setting the standard for how regions can respond to the complex demands of a changing world. Through initiatives like this, Manchester is poised to reinforce its position as a leader in urban innovation and sustainable development.
Managing Director of MIDAS Joe Manning stated,
“Our presence at MIPIM last year facilitated engagement with major investors interested in UK opportunities, which we believe will be replicated again in 2025.
“Working alongside the Manchester Invest Partnership, our coordinated approach and year-round events program helps attract global investment by showcasing our city-region's full potential.
“The alliance continues to deliver results, strengthening Manchester's position as a top UK investment destination.”
